Mobile Mania:!!!

The mobile phone seems to have given birth to a new generation of humans hopping about with this little gadget permanently wedged between the right ear and the right hand. Or in some cases left ear to left hand..as the case may be.!!
One such specimen has been haunting the entrance to my house every morning and evening.

I have never seen him even once without that contraption attached to his ear, pacing furiously to and fro like one possessed. What prevents him from carrying on this performance in front of his own house is a mystery. Perhaps the idea behind this crazy act is that he wants the world to recognise him as a business tycoon trying to control his vast business empire with the aid of his mobile phone pasted to his ear.

He is by no means an exceptional case. Nowadays most people in this city, including even house-maids and auto-drivers, seem afflicted with this malady. Recently a maid-servant working for us was seen, suddenly whipping out a mobile phone from inside her blouse like a gun-fighter whipping out his revolver at the sight of an enemy. Thank god, she was only attending to a call, phone call, not nature’s call. Look at any bus-stop, cinema hall, railway station, airport or nearby pan-shop, people mostly young lads are busy talking on the mobile, smsing, smiling/ laughing to themselves, animated discussions, shouting their lungs out, disturbing others is in their blood.

You cannot throw a stone anywhere in this garden city of ours without hitting a mobilomaniac, as this disease seems to have reached epidemic proportions. Every street, every road, nowadays crawls with them pacing up and down as if their lives depended upon it. There seems to be in existence some unwritten law somewhere which prevents the mobile mob from standing still while conversing on their mobiles.

Worser, these mobile-holders cross the limit when they drive two-wheelers with this gadget attached to the ear, leaving the handle-bar to its own devices. Perhaps the ever-increasing number of road accidents everywhere can be attributed to this craze of conversing on the mobile while riding a two-wheeler. They are a threat to society, head bent onto the mobile and speaking loudly (guys) and speaking to themselves (gals), and are never bothered about what’s going on around on the road. Same case with the Car drivers.. They drive their cars with one hand while the other is busy trying the number or holding the gadget to the nearest ear!!.

I have a mobile phone. (Should I.!! ) But I haven’t found it necessary to walk to and fro at break-neck speed while using it. I feel quite comfortable using it while seated. And I don’t attend the call while on the drive.. If at all I need to .. then I stop the Car at a safe place switch of the ignition, then only I can take the call. and Perhaps that is why the present day mobile mob prefer to keep their distance from me.
